Douglas Felis (Argentina)

Musician and composer, trained in Cairo and Istanbul. Disciple of Merwan Kawala Merwan (Egypt) in religious and popular Egyptian Kawala, and also of Atef Metkal Kenawy, son of the founder of «Les Musiciens dul Nil» in Egyptian Derbake. He studied classical kawala at Balon Theater, Cairo.


In Turkey he studied at the percussion school of Misirli Ahmet, recognized as
one of the greatest percussionist of recent times. And it was formed in Turkish religious Ney with Hanefi Kyrgyz and in classical music and Tanbur with Yagmur Emiroglu.

It integrates the Orchestral Folkloric of Egypt, with soothes in that country, and produced the successful presentation of this one in the city of São Paulo, Brazil (xx of 2010). He works with artists from Egypt such as Sabry Taghian, with whom he toured Spain in 2006, or Shokry Mohamed, whom he accompanied during several of his presentations in Brazil and Argentina.

He lived in Brazil, where he worked as a composer of television music for TV Record and toured during 2010 for 5 cities in the state of São Paulo.
He participated twice in the «Dança e Música do Mundo» Festival in Salvador, Bahia, where he performed together with Mahala Rai Band (Romania) Mohamed el Sayed
(Egypt) Mutrib (São Paulo).

In Buenos Aires he has been a percussionist for the Dos Dos Dos duo, by Damian Nisenson (Ex – Twist) and Sergio Dawi (Los Redonditos de Ricota)
Also, from the orchestra of the Egyptian Embassy «Urud Halab».

He appeared with his group «La Orquesta Oriental» for 5 nights at the Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires, opening the show of Ciro Martinez (Ex Los Piojos) and doing a mini show at the intermezzo of the presentations, in September and December 2010.

He is currently in the process of recording his third album. The two previous ones are Salam (2004) and Rihla (2007).
